Construct gives you an always-on AI employee for $9 a month that connects to Gmail and Google Calendar from its integration catalog, with no Google AI subscription required. Gemini Spark only works with a personal Google account on Google AI Pro or Ultra (Pro is about $20 a month in the US), does not support Workspace work or school accounts, and Google's help page lists it as unavailable in the UK, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Nigeria.
For founders and small teams, Construct is the better choice. It works across Gmail, Google Calendar, and the non-Google apps your business also runs on, saves finished work to files your team can open, runs scheduled jobs from the cloud with your laptop closed, and gives the whole team one workspace with no seat fees. Below, we rank it against six other alternatives: Claude with Cowork, ChatGPT dots, Microsoft Copilot Cowork, Manus, Lindy, and Grok Bot.
Why choose Construct over Gemini Spark?
- Its own plan, from $9. Construct Lite includes 2 agents, 50 steps per task, 3 scheduled tasks, and an agent email address. It does not hinge on a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
- Google and everything else in one job. Construct reaches Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Linear, Jira, GitHub, HubSpot, and Airtable through its live integration catalog, and you can add custom MCP tools when a connector does not exist.
- A team workspace, not a personal agent. Invite teammates as Owner, Admin, or Member. A team workspace has no member limit, and usage draws on the owner's plan.
- Work saved as files. Reports and digests land in workspace files as the agent produces them, so a run that stops at step 30 still leaves steps 1 to 29 behind.
- Memory you can inspect. See what the agent has learned, correct a stale fact, or tell it to forget something.
- Your choice of model. Spark runs on Gemini 3.5. Construct Pro can run on your own keys for OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, or xAI.
What is Gemini Spark?
Gemini Spark is Google's always-on agent inside the Gemini app. Google announced it at I/O on May 19, 2026 as a cloud-based agent that runs on Gemini 3.5 and keeps working in the background (Google). Press coverage describes it running on dedicated Google Cloud virtual machines (TechTimes).
Spark connects natively with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, YouTube, and Google Maps (Gemini Spark page). A June update added a macOS app and connected apps including Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals (Google, June 30, 2026). You can have up to 15 tasks running at a time, and Spark asks for confirmation before sending communications, modifying your data, making purchases, or submitting web forms (Gemini Apps Help).
Can you use Gemini Spark with a Google Workspace work account?
Not today, for most people. Google's help page says you must "sign in to the Gemini app with a personal Google Account," and work or school accounts are not currently supported (Gemini Apps Help).
Google has announced a business version: on May 19, 2026, Google Workspace said "Gemini Spark in Google Workspace will be available soon in preview for business customers in the Gemini app" (Google Workspace blog), and the Spark page mentions "select business users" (Gemini Spark page). We found no general availability date for Workspace accounts on the Google pages we checked.
That gap is what sends many small teams looking. A company on Google Workspace keeps its email, calendar, and files under work accounts, so a personal-account agent cannot see the inbox that matters.
Is Gemini Spark available in the UK or EU?
No. Google lists Spark as "available wherever Gemini Apps are supported, except in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom" (Gemini Apps Help). One availability tracker counts that as 33 excluded countries: the 30 EEA countries plus Nigeria, Switzerland, and the UK (AI Agents Library). A May report expected EU and UK availability in Q3 2026 (TechTimes); as of October 1, 2026, Google's help page still lists those regions as excluded.
How much does Gemini Spark cost?
Spark has no separate price; it comes with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription (Gemini Apps Help). It launched as a beta for US Ultra subscribers, with Ultra reported at $100 a month (TechTimes). In late July it came to the $20 Pro tier (Chrome Unboxed, July 27, 2026), and one tracker dates the global Pro expansion to July 30 (AI Agents Library). Older articles quoting only the Ultra price are out of date.
Why people look for a Gemini Spark alternative
Three reasons come up repeatedly: a work account, a location, or work that lives outside Google.
- The account rule. "Many new Gemini functionalities are only accessible using a consumer account instead of a Workspace account," one Hacker News commenter wrote in July (Hacker News).
- The region. Another, writing from Europe, listed Spark among features that "get to Europe later" (Hacker News).
- The scope. Spark is built around Google's apps plus a list of partner connections. If your CRM, project tracker, or support queue lives elsewhere, you want an agent whose home is not one vendor's suite. Our comparison of Construct with Microsoft Copilot and Google Workspace AI covers that in more depth.
Methodology
We build Construct, so it leads this list. Here is why it fits small teams: it sells the agent as its own plan from $9, works across Google and non-Google apps in one job, and keeps finished work in a workspace the whole team can open. This is our editorial comparison of documented capabilities and published prices, checked on October 1, 2026. It is not a hands-on performance benchmark. Regional availability is reported only where the vendor states it; where a vendor's pages say nothing about the UK or EU, we say "not stated" rather than guessing. Prices are USD, billed monthly unless noted.

The 7 best Gemini Spark alternatives, ranked
1. Construct
Best for: founders and small teams that want recurring work across Gmail, Google Calendar, and non-Google apps, with the files and schedule kept in one place.
Construct gives each agent a persistent cloud workspace: files, live browser runs, a sandbox terminal, its own email address, and a Calendar of scheduled jobs. Calendar schedules run on Construct's servers, so the 8:00 digest runs whether or not your laptop is open. It reaches Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Linear, Jira, GitHub, HubSpot, and Airtable through its live integration catalog, and you can add custom MCP tools when a catalog entry does not exist (Construct product guide). You can assign work from the web, Slack (@mentions and DMs), Telegram, Discord, or by emailing the agent's own address.
Where Spark is a personal assistant inside the Gemini app, Construct is a shared employee with its own workspace:
- Output you keep. Finished work lands in the workspace as it is produced, so a run that stops at step 30 keeps steps 1 to 29 and the next run starts from what exists. A teammate can open the same file next week.
- Memory you can read. Construct shows what it has learned. Correct a client's name or a reporting rule once and every later job uses it. The memory guide shows how.
- Jobs that become workflows. A job that works can be saved as a workflow and put on the Calendar: 3 scheduled tasks on Lite, 10 on Starter, 50 on Pro.
- A whole team, one plan. Teammates join as Owner, Admin, or Member, with no member limit and no per-seat fee.
- The model you pick. On Pro, bring your own keys for OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock, or xAI.
- Its own inbox. Even Lite includes an agent email address, so the agent can send you the digest from its own address.
Silent product demo: Construct's live connected-app catalog, with tools such as Drive, Gmail, GitHub, and messaging channels available to connect.
Price, checked October 1, 2026: Lite is $9 a month for 2 agents, 50 steps per task, 3 scheduled tasks, and an agent email address. Starter is $59 with 6x Lite usage, up to 5 agents, 150 steps per task, and 10 scheduled tasks. Pro is $299 with 32x Lite usage, up to 15 agents, up to 1,000 steps per task, 50 scheduled tasks, and your own model keys. Pro has a seven-day free trial (Construct pricing).
Setup note: Construct reaches Google through connected apps rather than inside Google's own apps, so check the catalog for the Docs or Sheets actions your job needs, and upload anything else as a file. If your Workspace admin restricts third-party apps, ask them before you connect Gmail.

2. Claude with Cowork
Best for: people already paying for Claude, including on a Workspace account in the UK or EU.
Anthropic's Google Workspace connectors let Claude search and send Gmail, manage Google Calendar, and read and save Drive files, asking for approval before each of these actions by default (Claude Help Center). On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner must enable them first, and if your Google Workspace admin restricts apps, the admin marks Claude as "Trusted" in the Google Admin console. Cowork's scheduled tasks are on all paid plans and run remotely while your computer is asleep or the desktop app is closed (Claude Help Center). Anthropic lists the United Kingdom, EU countries such as Germany, France, and Ireland, and Switzerland as supported (Anthropic supported countries).
Price, checked October 1, 2026: Pro is $20 billed monthly, Max starts at $100, Team Standard is $25 per seat and Team Premium $125 per seat billed monthly (Claude pricing). The pricing page now says "Claude Cowork is now just Claude."
Limits: agentic work draws on the same plan usage as chat, and a task that needs local files or apps runs only on your machine.
3. ChatGPT dots
Best for: businesses already on ChatGPT, including in the UK and EU through Business Premium.
OpenAI launched dots on September 29, 2026. Each dot runs on GPT-6 Astra, works from its own cloud computer, can connect to more than 4,000 apps through plugins, and can be messaged in Slack and Teams (The Next Web). Custom rules decide what a dot may do on its own, and sensitive operations such as password changes always need a human. For Pro users, "the eligible markets do not currently include the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK," while Business Premium users get dots across supported regions.
Price, checked October 1, 2026: the first dot is included in Pro and Business Premium. A Business Premium seat is $125 per user monthly or $100 billed annually, and Pro comes in $100, $200, and $500 tiers, according to a pricing guide updated September 9, 2026 (Layer3 Labs).
Limits: dots are rolling out gradually, and we could not fetch OpenAI's own pages to check the fine print. OpenAI advises users to "always review consequential work" (The Next Web). Our Construct vs ChatGPT Dots comparison covers the head-to-head.
4. Microsoft Copilot Cowork
Best for: companies that run on Microsoft 365 rather than Google Workspace.
Copilot Cowork runs long, multi-tool tasks in Microsoft's cloud, so tasks keep running when your laptop is off. It became generally available to Microsoft 365 Copilot customers worldwide on June 16, 2026, running on Anthropic's Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6 at launch (Microsoft 365 blog).
Price, checked October 1, 2026: it requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, then usage is metered in Copilot Credits at $0.01 each on pay-as-you-go, with a discounted prepaid option. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is listed at $25.20 per user on a monthly subscription, or from $18 per user a month on an annual subscription, down from $21 (Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing).
Limits: metered cost depends on model use, retrieval, tool calls, and runtime, so budget from a pilot. It is built for Microsoft 365, not Google Workspace.
5. Manus
Best for: one-off research, analysis, and build tasks.
Manus 2.0, released September 28, 2026, added a dedicated Cloud Computer and event-triggered automations, so a new email, a calendar event, a Slack message, or a Notion update can start a task (Manus). Apps run on web, macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android.
Price, checked October 1, 2026: Free gives 300 credits a day and 1 concurrent task. Pro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 credits, 20 concurrent tasks, and 20 scheduled tasks, and a $40 tier doubles the credits. Team starts at $20 per seat (Manus Help Center). The Cloud Computer is an extra $30 or $50 a month (Manus Help Center). Prices are set in USD for all users, payable in local currency (Manus Help Center).
Limits: if you stop paying for the Cloud Computer, "the persistent virtual machine will be shut down" and its files and databases are deleted. Manus resumed independent operations on September 1, 2026, and some users had to back up and restore data during that transition (Manus).
6. Lindy
Best for: teams whose work already happens in Slack.
Lindy is a Slack-based teammate with scheduled routines, meeting notes, integrations, and up to 5 connected inboxes (Lindy pricing). It lists GDPR and SOC 2 compliance, though the pages we checked do not say where data is processed.
Price, checked October 1, 2026: Plus is $29.99 per user a month with 3,000 credits, Pro $99.99 with 15,000, and Max $199.99 with 35,000 (Lindy pricing).
Limits: "Anyone who uses Lindy takes a seat," including someone who only mentions it in Slack, and when credits run out, "Lindy pauses credit-using actions" until the next cycle. The pricing page lists computer use among core features, while the plan documentation shows it on Pro, Max, and Enterprise only (Lindy docs). Our Construct vs Lindy comparison goes further.
7. Grok Bot
Best for: people who already pay for Cursor or an eligible SuperGrok plan.
Grok Bot gives you named Bots on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem, and terminal, and a Bot can save a path you demonstrate as a skill and rerun it on a schedule (Grok Bot docs). The browser keeps its sign-ins between runs, and the docs recommend a Marketplace connector over clicking through a website where one exists (Grok Bot computer and apps).
Price, checked October 1, 2026: included with Cursor Pro at $20 a month and Cursor Teams at $40 per user (Cursor pricing), and with eligible SuperGrok and X Premium+ accounts linked to Cursor (Cursor Help).
Limits: usage limits are described in relative tiers, not numbers, and the docs we read do not mention regional availability or Google Workspace accounts. Our Grok Bot comparison goes further.
Also considered: Perplexity Computer
Perplexity Computer is a cloud agent for long-running, multi-step work. We could not fetch Perplexity's own pages on October 1, and third-party guides disagree on access: one says Computer requires the $200 Max plan (Sliq), another says Pro subscribers at $20 gained access on May 7, 2026 (FindSkill). Check Perplexity directly before you buy.
An illustrative example: a morning inbox digest in Construct
This is an illustrative workflow, not a customer case study or a measured test.
A two-person design studio runs on Google Workspace. The founder wants what Spark promises: every weekday at 8:00, a short list of client emails that need a reply and the day's meetings with a line of context for each. Spark is ruled out by the work account.
- Connect Gmail and Google Calendar from Construct's integration catalog.
- Give the agent the job: "Read yesterday's and this morning's Gmail. List client emails that still need a reply, oldest first, with a one-line summary. Then list today's Calendar events with who is attending. Save it as a dated file in Files and email it to me from your inbox."
- Check the first few files. Correct anything it gets wrong, and Construct keeps the correction as memory you can read.
- Schedule it on the Calendar for weekdays at 8:00. Lite's 3 scheduled tasks cover it.
Each morning's digest stays in Files, so you can see why an email was included and compare one week with the next. The test that matters is the tenth morning, not the first. In Claude, the same prompt can run as a Cowork scheduled task once your Workspace admin has trusted Claude.
Already using Spark? Add Construct in 15 minutes
Keep Spark for personal errands in your Google account and give Construct the work your team shares.
- Start on Lite for $9, or take the 7-day Pro trial to test longer runs and your own model keys.
- Copy the task instructions you gave Spark into a Construct chat, and move any source files into the workspace.
- Connect the apps the job needs, Google and non-Google, from the integration catalog.
- Run it once and check the result in Files.
- Put it on the Calendar so it runs every week whether or not anyone is online.
There is no import from Spark, so write your rules into the first instruction and Construct saves them as memory. One thing to set up deliberately: Construct's workflows do not pause for approval yet, so for client emails, ask for drafts and send them yourself once you have checked them.
When might Gemini Spark still fit?
- You use a personal Google account outside the excluded regions and already pay for Google AI Pro.
- Your work happens almost entirely inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Maps.
For recurring team work that crosses Gmail, a CRM, a tracker, and the web, with shared files and schedules, Construct is the better fit.
Which Gemini Spark alternative should you choose?
Choose Construct. It starts at $9 a month with no Google AI subscription, connects Gmail and Google Calendar alongside your other apps, keeps every finished file in a workspace your team shares, and runs scheduled jobs from the cloud.
- If you are on a Google Workspace work account and want scheduled help with Gmail and Calendar, choose Construct and connect both from the integration catalog.
- If the work crosses Gmail, a CRM, a tracker, and the web, choose Construct.
- If more than one person needs the agent, choose Construct. One plan covers the workspace, with no seat fees.
- If you want to choose the model, choose Construct Pro with your own keys.
- If your team lives in Slack, Construct answers @mentions and DMs there; Lindy is the per-user alternative.
- If you already pay for Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, keep it for personal tasks and add Construct for the team's recurring work.
- If your company runs on Microsoft 365, Copilot Cowork is the native option.
- If you are in the UK or EU, Claude lists those countries as supported, and dots are available on a Business Premium seat. Confirm Construct's availability for your country at sign-up.
For a broader field, our roundup of AI employee platforms for small business compares ten options on price and limits.
Pick the inbox digest, weekly report, or follow-up list you keep doing by hand. Connect the apps it needs, give Construct the prompt above, check the first few saved files, and put it on the Calendar. Start on Lite at $9, or try Pro free for seven days.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Construct a good Gemini Spark alternative?
- Yes, for founders and small teams. Construct starts at $9 a month with no Google AI subscription, connects Gmail and Google Calendar alongside apps such as Notion, HubSpot, and Linear through its integration catalog, saves finished work to files your team can open, and runs scheduled jobs from the cloud with your laptop closed.
- Can I use Gemini Spark with a Google Workspace work account?
- Not today for most people. Google's help page says you must sign in to the Gemini app with a personal Google Account, and work or school accounts are not currently supported. Google announced in May 2026 that a Workspace preview for business customers is coming soon, but we found no general availability date.
- Is Gemini Spark available in the UK or EU?
- No. Google lists Spark as available wherever Gemini Apps are supported except the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and those regions were still excluded on October 1, 2026. Claude lists the UK, EU countries, and Switzerland as supported, and ChatGPT dots are available there on a Business Premium seat. Confirm availability for your country at sign-up for any alternative.
- How much does Gemini Spark cost?
- Spark has no separate price and comes with a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. It launched for US Ultra subscribers, reported at $100 a month, and reached the Pro tier, about $20 a month in the US, in late July 2026. Construct starts at $9 a month on its own plan.
- Can I use Construct alongside Gemini Spark?
- Yes. Keep Spark for personal errands in your Google account and give Construct the work your team shares. Start on Lite for $9 or the 7-day Pro trial, copy your task instructions into Construct, connect the apps, run the job once, and put it on the Calendar. There is no import from Spark.
- When does Gemini Spark still make sense?
- When you use a personal Google account outside the excluded regions and already pay for Google AI Pro, or when your work happens almost entirely inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Maps. For recurring team work across Gmail, a CRM, a tracker, and the web, Construct is the better fit.
